Hua Qianxiao Boss Guide: Drunken Sword Fanatic Strategy

Beat Hua Qianxiao at Pangzhen Bridge: break the Bubble Shield, dodge the flying swords, survive Bladefall, and earn the Fanatic Broken Blade.

Last Updated: 2026-10-30

Hua Qianxiao, the Sword Fanatic, fights on Pangzhen Bridge in the Crimson Forest. He is a drunken-fist swordsman who mixes water magic into his strings: a bubble shield that absorbs hits, flying swords that track, and a bladefall that turns the bridge into a hazard course. He is also the source of The Fanatic's Broken Blade, one of the best early One-Handed weapons.

The fight is a race against his shield. Every second you spend hitting the bubble is a second he is not staggered, and every failed break extends the string that follows.

Quick answer

Break the Bubble Shield with a heavy or Sha-Chi attack before you try to deal health damage. Dodge the flying swords sideways, keep moving through Bladefall, and punish the Tidal Sword recovery.

Location and reward

Detail Answer
Region Crimson Forest, Pangzhen Bridge
Type Mandatory story boss
Reward The Fanatic's Broken Blade (One-Handed weapon)
Key mechanic Bubble Shield
Hazard Bladefall across the bridge

Attack table

Attack Tell Answer Punish
Bubble Shield A translucent sphere forms around him Break it with heavy or Sha-Chi attacks The break itself is the stagger
Flying Sword A single blade leaves his hand and tracks Dodge sideways at the last moment One light attack as it passes
Flying Sword Flurry Three to five tracked blades in sequence Dodge each in rhythm; do not panic-roll One heavy attack after the last
Tidal Sword A wide, slow wave cut Parry the blue flash or step behind him Full Triangle string
Bladefall Swords rain across the bridge Keep moving; use the gaps Re-engage after the rain stops

The Bubble Shield is not a block. It absorbs a fixed number of hits and prevents stagger. Light attacks waste time against it; a heavy attack or a Sha-Chi combo breaks it in one or two hits and leaves him open. If you hear a glass-like chime, the shield is about to break — that is your window.

Reading the drunken style

Hua Qianxiao's animations are deliberately loose. His sword hand drifts, his torso sways, and the actual strike comes from an angle that does not match the wind-up. Three rules make him readable:

  1. Watch his feet. The drunken sway is upper-body noise; his feet plant before a real attack.
  2. Count the flying swords. The single sword is a poke; the flurry is a commitment. Do not use your heavy until the last blade is gone.
  3. Do not parry the bubble. It is a shield, not an attack. Break it and punish the break.

Phase strategy

Below half health, Hua Qianxiao drinks again and refreshes the Bubble Shield more often. He also chains Bladefall into a Flying Sword, so the safe gap after the rain is shorter.

  1. Open with a heavy attack. If the bubble is up, break it immediately; if not, the heavy still does guard damage.
  2. Stay close during the sword flurry. The tracked blades have a minimum range and curve poorly at close distance. Strafe around him rather than running away.
  3. Use the bridge. The arena is long and narrow; fight near the centre so Bladefall does not pin you against a rail.
  4. Punish Tidal Sword. It is the slowest move in his kit and the only one with a predictable recovery.
  5. Equip the Broken Blade after the fight. Its moveset rewards aggressive counter-hits, which fits the close-range game this fight teaches.
Slot Pick Reason
Weapon Heavy or high guard-break blade Breaks the Bubble Shield faster
Phantom Edge Ranged edge Hits during Bladefall downtime
Skill All or Nothing Converts a partial Sha-Chi bar into a shield-breaking attack
Skill Steady Composure Interrupts his loose strings more often
Skill Healing Art The bridge has no mid-fight resupply

Common mistakes

  • Light-attacking the bubble. It absorbs the hits and does not stagger him.
  • Backing into the bridge rail during Bladefall. Move along the bridge, not away from it.
  • Panic-rolling the Flying Sword Flurry. Each blade tracks separately; roll on the flash, not on the first sword.
  • Greeding after the shield break. The break is a stagger, but he recovers quickly on Hard.
