Phantom Blade Zero Phantom Edges: All Types & Best Picks
How Phantom Edges work in Phantom Blade Zero: all five types, the full named list, shared Remnant Spark charges, boss drops, and the best edges for each build.
Phantom Edges are Phantom Blade Zero's secondary weapons: the cannon, bell, axe, bow, or fan you fire with R2. They are not a replacement for your sword. They are the tool you spend when a fight asks for range, crowd control, or a summon.
The system has one rule that catches everyone: both equipped edges share the same Remnant Spark charges. You can carry two answers, but you cannot fire them independently. Charges refill at bells, so the resource is per-route, not per-fight.

Equip one ranged edge and one utility edge. Dread Axe is mandatory for exploration shortcuts, Puppeteer's Bell is the best summon, and Bashpole is the strongest early crowd-control pick. Do not burn both charges on a boss's first phase.
How Phantom Edges work
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Equipped | Two edges |
| Activation | R2 |
| Resource | Remnant Spark, shared between both edges |
| Refill | Bells |
| Swap | Free, no cooldown |
| Power Surge | L2, costs 1 Sha-Chi Essence |
| Total | 25 edges across five types |
Because swapping is free, the limitation is charges, not equip slots. A common setup is a ranged edge for safe damage and a utility edge for the one moment it is needed.

The best Phantom Edges
| Edge | Type | Why it is good |
|---|---|---|
| Dread Axe | Destructive | Breaks chains in exploration and hits hard in combat; essential utility |
| Puppeteer's Bell | Summoning | A summoned ally draws aggro and damages split-phase bosses |
| Bashpole | Destructive | Wide crowd control from Wan Jun; excellent in add fights |
| Tiger Cannon | Destructive | Burst damage for a guard-broken boss |
| Feather Bow | Ranged | Reliable chip damage while you learn a moveset |
| Illusory Pipa | Artifice | Disruption that buys a free heal or reposition |
Dread Axe is the only edge that is mandatory outside combat. Several exploration routes in Weeping Creek Valley are blocked by chains, and the axe is the intended key. If you skipped Peng Meng, go back.
Remnant Spark management
- Start every boss with full charges. Rest at the bell before the fog gate.
- Spend one charge per phase, not both in the opener. The second phase is usually the harder half.
- Use charges to skip mechanics, not to add damage. A summon that holds aggro is worth more than a cannon shot that deals 5% health.
- Refill before exploring a side path. Bells are frequent; hoarding charges wastes the resource.
- Power Surge is not free. L2 costs 1 Sha-Chi Essence, so do not treat it as a second R2.
